Create a Video Promoting Summer Reading!


This Year's Theme: Imagine Your Story

Create a video promoting the 2020 Summer Reading Club and you could have your video

featured at all Ridgewood Elementary schools AND an exclusive prize!

All entries must be submitted by Wednesday, April 8, 2020 to be eligible for consideration.
Movie files or link to your video can be sent directly to rgwdteens@gmail.com.
All completed entry forms must be submitted at the children’s service desk.

Video Criteria:

All videos must:

  1. Be 1-3 minutes long

  2. Promote the idea of using Ridgewood Public Library and reading this summer

  3. Include your own interpretation of the SRC theme “Imagine Your Story"

  4. Be appropriate for viewing by audiences of all ages

  5. Include the process of how to participate (details below)

  • Read for at least 30 minutes a day for five days.  Keep track of how many books you read in those five days.

  • Visit the Library and tell the SRC assistant how many books you’ve read.

  • You’ll receive a sticker for your passport around the children room and a prize.

  • Move your book to the next destination in the children’s room.

Video will be judge based on:

  1. Be creative!

  2. Make sure the message is clear and relevant

  3. Be motivational and inspiring

  4. Have a strong impact​


  1. One winner will be selected by your Children and Teen department librarians.

  2. Winning submission will receive a gift card (amount TBA) as well as bragging rights to be shown during all promotional use and school visits for 2020 Summer Reading.

How To Enter:

  1. Create your video following all the criteria above.

  2. Title your video “2020 SRC (unique name). Please choose a name that does not include your real name.

  3. Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo.com (Do not make your video public– choose  the option that creates a link to be shared) and email the link to rgwdteens@gmail.com.

  4. Fill out the entry form on the back of this page and return it to Ridgewood Public Library, 125 N. Maple Ave, Ridgewood, NJ.


The "2020 Teen Summer Reading Video Contest" for New Jersey is open only to legal U.S. residents aged 13-18 who are also residents of Ridgewood, New Jersey. Participants are ineligible if directly related to the panel of judges for the contest. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Contest Rules.

Each participant or group may submit one video per entry. Each entry must include signed model release form(s). All submissions must be received by TBA. Late entries will not be accepted. 

All audio and artwork must be created by the entrant or be in the public domain and must be specified as such on the entry form. CSLP (and all CSLP member affiliates) have permission to use the "2020 Teen Video Challenge" submissions, including all work created and all intellectual property embodied therein, as per the Contest Release Form.
