Nancy Greene

Nancy was the kid whose favorite destination was the public library where "Sophocles the Hyena" could be borrowed every visit. Her next big step was 7th grade library club and soon Nancy was working in school libraries. But she went to graduate school to pursue her love of public libraries and the readers of all ages who share their lives with us.

Lorri Steinbacher

Lorri is our Assistant Director and the purchaser of adult books and music. She is an avid reader and devours all things pop culture—literary/historical fiction, alternative music, Broadway, memoirs, and feminist fiction and essays are her particular interest. She’s seen "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" 12 times so far and is not even a little embarrassed. Helping people find their next favorite book is the best part of her job.

Toni graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Ramapo College. She handles the library finances along with adult concert and lecture programs.

Nancy was formerly a librarian at a NYC law firm prior to joining the RPL staff in 1996 as a Reference Librarian. She enjoys travel, tennis, and knitting.

A former magazine editor/writer, Jin enjoys reading, rooting for Ridgewood teams and planning family vacations. She still reads a daily newspaper and is trying to instill the habit in her 3 children (failing miserably). And as testament to her loyalty and willingness to persevere against all odds: she’s a Mets fan.

Ashley graduated from Ramapo College in 2013 and is currently studying Library Sciences at San Jose State University. She’ll read anything and everything, and if she’s not at the Library, you’re most likely to find her snuggled with her corgi, Lucy, with a rather impressive-size mug of coffee in hand.

Amy holds a BA in English and a MST in Early Childhood Education, both from Fordham University. After teaching first grade in Manhattan for many years, she now lives in Ridgewood with her husband, two daughters and dog. Amy's favorite authors include William Steig, Robert McCloskey, EB White, Nancy Mitford and Allison Weir.

Victoria has a background in non-profit administration and development, foreign language, and education. Her first experience with the RPL was with her oldest son in Baby & Me Storytime. Now, 15 years, and 3 children later, she is delighted to be part of the Children's Department staff. (See also Reference/ESL)

Amy grew up in Southern Maine and graduated with a BA from Alfred University. Upon moving to Ridgewood with her family, the RPL immediately became a favorite spot for her and her young daughters. She is thrilled to now be a part of the children's department team. When not at the library, Amy loves reading, yoga and spending time with friends and family.

Jeff is a 2019 Ramapo College alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in literature. Passionate and ambitious about library work, Jeff is honored to continue building a career at the Ridgewood Public Library where he can serve, improve and interact directly with the community. Those who know Jeff best will tell you that the library is his home away from home.

Gladys works in the kids department. She holds a BA in literature and an MA in Child Advocacy; before coming to work at the library she was a preschool teacher for 13 years. When not reading, Gladys can be found cheering on the New York Redbulls.

Justin received her MLS from Drexel University in 2012. She is a zealous reader of young adult books, a baker at heart, and has a soft spot for puppies. You will often find her nose buried in a book or hands deep in a Pinterest project. She is eagerly awaiting her acceptance letter from Hogwarts but until then she will enjoy her time being a YA librarian.

Caitlin has a B.A. in English from Drew University. Her life-long love of reading and creative writing has led her to work in Ridgewood Library's Children's Department, because as Hermione said, "when in doubt, go to the library." She loves anything related to true crime and pop culture, which makes for interesting dinner conversations. She is a proud Hufflepuff, and when she's not writing poetry or getting lost in a book, you can find her with her husband and their dog, Ace.

Rosa Pangilinan

Rosa is a Slytherin, a Martell, and a would-have-been resident of Athena’s Cabin. She received her B.A. in History and English Literature from Rutgers University and is pursuing an M.A. in Historical Studies from The New School. When she’s not buried in writing, research, good books, costume designing, graphic design projects, and occasionally disastrous cooking experiments, you can find her in the Youth Services department of RPL, talking about what she loves most: YA books.

Roberta Panjwani

Before joining RPL in 2000, Roberta worked at the Paley Center for Media in NYC for ten years. A certified teacher, Roberta formerly served as Children’s Dept. Supervisor at the Library. She is passionate about the arts, skiing and travel. Roberta created and runs the annual Reel Voices Film Festival (since 2003), curates the Martha Glaser Culture Series and co-created the On Book Play Reading Series and several other initiatives with the Library and its partners.

Larissa Brookes

Larissa answers reference and reader’s advisory questions for patrons of all ages, plans and runs multigenerational programs, supports the Library's ESL department, and develops the adult and children's world language collections. If you have graphic novel suggestions (for adults or teens), Larissa is your librarian. In her spare time she washes and prepares vegetables from her family's farm shares. Larissa has an MLIS from San Jose State University and a rusty JD from Boston College.

Victoria Hilditch

Victoria oversees the Adult ESL (English as a Second Language) Program which started in 1994 and has grown to include 110 students from 35 countries and 45 tutors. The program includes tutor trainings, small group and classroom style teaching and special programs like a Citizenship Classes and others to help students negotiate day-to-day living in our community. Victoria also coordinates the monthly Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion Group and Knit One Read Two.

Sarah Kiefer

Sarah works with the Reference team, but primarily in the Bolger Heritage Center for local history and genealogy. Her role allows her to research history, which she loves, and also assist others in finding the information they seek. Sarah encourages you to stop by and stump her with a history question.

Pat happily became a reference librarian as an interesting second career. She thoroughly enjoys helping the public, the vibrancy of the Ridgewood Library community, traveling, gardening, golf and reading in her spare time.

Beth is a former trustee of the Bergen County Historical Society, and was a founding member of the Northern Valley Historical Society. For several years she's been researching and writing family histories and house histories for both video and print.

Elias Rosner

Elias has been working on and off with the Ridgewood Library since 2013. A 2018 graduate of Goucher College, he finds that not even four more years of required readings and writing workshops has quenched his love of the written word. Elias can currently be found floating between the Reference, Circulation and Tech departments and is a key person in coordinating our quarterly Computer Class programs. Ask him for comic recs; he’s got you covered.

Claire Saal

After receiving her MLIS in 2010, Claire has been happily serving a wide variety of school and public libraries. When she is not helping patrons, you can usually find her curled up with her two cats (photos available upon request) reading the newest graphic novel or medieval history book. If she's not there, you can find her trekking locally or globally, baking goodies, eating said goodies, or LARPing (feel free to ask about it!) If she's not helping anybody, feel free to tell her a corny joke and strike up a conversation!

Victoria Schnure

Victoria holds a dual degree in French and Russian from Bryn Mawr College and an MA in Education from the University of Michigan. Combined with her experience in the Children’s Department, she now brings her education background, love of foreign languages and travel, and extensive work with multicultural communities to the ESL department.
