Safety Procedures

For all: The library welcomes all for 30-minute browsing visits and
60-minute computer use ($1 Guest Pass for visitors). 

For Ridgewood Patrons: 2 hour in-person silent study visits are now available.

Please sign in at the Reference Desk, with your RPL card or other valid Ridgewood ID, to get a table pass.

We are committed to providing safe access to physical library materials through lobby pick up as well as service inside the library.

 

To protect library patrons and staff, please use the following guidelines for picking up and returning library materials.

Library staff quarantines all incoming materials and will be wearing masks during lobby pick up.

Picking Items Up

  1. 15 minutes before you come please call 201-670-5600 and Press 0 to let us know you are coming

  2. A staff member will place your checked out materials on the table inside the lobby

  • Please reserve items in advance by doing one of the following:

  • When your items are ready for pick up, the Library will notify you.

  • Books and media may be returned at the book drop only. Both may be returned to the same book drop.

To ensure the safety of our patrons and staff, patrons must wear a mask over their nose and mouth while on the premises (both outside and inside).

If you have forgotten your mask, a staff member will be happy to provide a one-time use mask.

Patrons may browse in the library for up to 30 minutes per day.

No registration required.* 

*Children's room visits on Sunday require registration, though walk-ins are welcomed. Please click the link above or call us at 201-670-5600 x130 to register

Special 2 hour study visits are available in designated areas for Ridgewood residents. One person per table.

Patrons must sign in at the Reference desk to sit and should be prepared to present Library card or Ridgewood ID.

Please do not move the chairs or drag them from their places.

Additional Information

Safety:

  • Library materials are quarantined for 72 hours prior to being returned to the collection. 

  • Staff will be wearing masks when handling your materials and during the curbside service.

Requesting Materials:

  • You may request items from any BCCLS library, but items must be picked up at your home library.​

  • Holds will be returned to shelf if they are not picked up after 4 days.

Returned Items:

  • Please note that due to quarantine items will remain on your record for a minimum of three days after returning items in the book drop.

  • Please wait at least 10 days before calling to follow up on returned items. We are working through a backlog of materials and need time to process them.
