Saturday, November 16th at 2pm, in the Belcher AuditoriumThe Making of a Village: Ridgewood Grows Up:  

Co-sponsored with the Ridgewood Historical Society In celebration of the incorporation of Ridgewood on November 26th, 1894, local historians Peggy Norris and Joe Suplicki provide a slide lecture on the critical years between 1894 to 1905. Using documents, maps, and historic panoramic photos, Norris and Suplicki illustrate Ridgewood’s growth and transformation into a Village. All welcome, no registration required.  Light refreshments will be served.

Monday, November 25th at 7pm, Genealogical Society of Bergen County's monthly meeting, in the Belcher AuditoriumNew Jersey Probate Records:  In this lecture, attendees will learn about the probate and administration processes in New Jersey and the abundance of records they can create. The lecture will cover estate records from the proprietary period to the present, uses for establishing kinship, research strategies, key locations of records, and more.  All welcome, no registration required.

Monday, December 9th at 7pm, in the Belcher AuditoriumA Visit to Downtown Ridgewood from 1916-1928:  Take a tour of Downtown Ridgewood using Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps. In this program you'll find out why the Ridgewood Public Library restored these maps, what information they contain, and uncover details on streets, buildings and homes in Ridgewood. Join us for this interesting tour of Ridgewood as yet another way to celebrate its 125th anniversary. All welcome, no registration required.

Advance planning is required for MAPS, ARCHIVES, RIDGEWOOD HOUSE HISTORY RESEARCH.

 

No advance planning is required for use of genealogy databases (on your own), books, periodicals, and CDs in the Bolger Heritage Center, or for use of any of our resources on microfilm (newspapers, NJ State Census for Bergen County, Ridgewood city directiories)
