Resident Library Cards
Full service library cards are available to all Ridgewood residents upon written proof of residency (e.g. utility bill, driver's license, residential lease). Cards may be used at other Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS) libraries. Click here to apply for a card online.
Renewal: Cards are renewed every three years by showing proof of current residency. A child from birth through grade 8 may register for a card whenever a parent or guardian is willing to sign for responsibility.
Full borrowing, with the ability to directly reserve, through staff or home computers, NYT bestsellers, videos and DVDs and all library materials. Full borrowing from Ridgewood and all BCCLS libraries.
First access to, or registration for, all Library adult, YA and children's programs and special events - many are open only to Ridgewood Cardholders.
Registration for technology classes - Learn to use the library catalog, Internet searching, digital cameras and more.
Professional Reference service at all times, seven (7) days per week.
Interlibrary loan service - our team of Reference Librarians will locate and arrange delivery of desired books and articles. We will use not only the Bergen Libraries database, but will search state and nationwide, if necessary.
Remote access to the Library Catalog & Databases using your own home or office computer to look up and reserve items during hours when the library is closed.
Non-Resident Library Cards
Non-residents residing in a town without a BCCLS library may purchase a one-year family card. Cardholding family has most privileges of resident cardholders except that borrowing from other BCCLS libraries is not permitted. The Library offers annual Guest Memberships. Two levels of service will be offered, as shown below.
Gold Level card $450--Attend all Ridgewood Library programs, borrow physical books & media, and access selected online resources that are available to Ridgewood cardholders only.
Silver Level card $275--Borrow all Ridgewood physical books & media.
Courtesy Library Cards
Ridgewood Public Library offers Courtesy Cards for borrowing Ridgewood Public Library materials only. These cards offer no access to inter-library loan or to reserved Children's programs. Residents of Passaic and Bergen County towns with libraries are not eligible to receive Ridgewood Public Library Courtesy Cards.
The Library will make available Courtesy Cards to non-residents on the following basis:
One-year, complimentary cards may be issued to employees of the Ridgewood Public Schools or the Village of Ridgewood upon presentation of proof of employment and home address. Cards are renewable annually upon verification of employment.
One-year, complimentary cards may be issued to Ridgewood business owners upon presentation of proof of Ridgewood property ownership or property lease and home address. Cards are renewable annually upon verification of ownership or lease.
One-year, complimentary cards may be issued to non-resident students attending Ridgewood Public Schools with proof of enrollment, if not residing in a BCCLS or PALS town.
PIN Number (Personal Identification Number)
If you do not yet have a PIN, please ask for one the next time you visit the Circulation Desk. A PIN enables you to view your library card account and see items you have checked out or have on reserve, renew items before they become overdue, cancel requests and view a list of outstanding fines.
Non-residents interested in attending children's programming for ages birth- grade 5 can purchase a KidsCard. KidsCard holders are open to all programs that require signing-in upon arrival or pre-registration.
Cards can be purchased annually or seasonally. Seasonal cards are broken down as follows:
• January- April
• May- August
• September- December
Season card: $75 (first child), $65 (per additional sibling)
Annual card: $200 (first child), $175 (per additional sibling)
