The Hohokus Brook descends through a gorge in Hohokus and then runs through Ridgewood, emptying into the Saddle River in present-day Glen Rock. It is responsible for the rich soil of Paramus Plains (now Veteran's Field) and was the site, in the nineteenth century, of several mills.
