Holiday Cards 1900-1925

Holiday postcards were the forerunners of today's greeting card. Their "golden age" was from the first appearance of the pictorial postcard in 1893 throught the early decades of the twentieth century. These cards were donated to the George L. Pease Memorial Library many years ago and are virtually all New Year's and Christmas cards. The art and the verse can be of high quality and are always interesting as an insight into people 100 years ago. When postcards could be sent for a penny stamp, this was an easy way to greet your neighbors, friends, and family.
